The Dutch Port of Den Helder (PODH) explores the evolving role of the port for the offshore wind sector. A consortium consisting of PODH, owners and operators of wind farms, service providers for wind farms, stakeholders in the PODH area and TNO will conduct research in order to make the appropriate strategical choices for investments in future port infrastructure.
In support of the preparation of this research plan, PODH and TNO reached out to the NOVIMAR team. In a series of meetings NOVIMAR experts shared insights on topics such as selected business models for Vessel Train operations, effects of Mix Move cargo consolidation and innovative container handling capabilities of the NOVIMAR-designed cargo handling vehicle and RoRo cargo transfer platform. Also the control and monitoring of Vessel Trains was explained.
Based on these discussions the PODH use case has been translated into a NOVIMAR infographic, showing the potential of the Vessel Train-concept in support of the maintenance and operations of windfarms. It was agreed that NOVIMAR will provide additional information and/or support when requested.
