Today, you may not see much yet in the Port of Den Helder - but this is where the future of the hydrogen value chain is taking shape.
This is where hydrogen is happening.
Noord-Holland Noord is an integral part of the Hydrogen Valley Noord-Holland, and in this video, we showcase the remarkable hydrogen developments taking place in the Port of Den Helder - a location that may still look quiet today, but is rapidly evolving into a key hub for the hydrogen economy.
With this video, we conclude the Regio Deal Maritiem cluster Kop van Noord-Holland and with it, the hydrogen programme that was part of this collaboration. In the video, Danah Kolstee from New Energy Coalition guides us through several strong results that have been achieved within the hydrogen programme in Den Helder.
🔹 Walstroom (shore power) will soon enable cleaner and quieter ports: less noise, zero emissions, and vessels powered directly from the quay.
🔹 Zephyros connects offshore wind energy from Statkraft to hydrogen production — from wind to electrolysis, to industry and shipping — with Den Helder as the crucial link between sea and land.
🔹 Through North Sea Hydrogen Valley Ports, the Port of Den Helder is working together with other European ports on hydrogen applications for the maritime sector.
The plans are in place, partnerships are strong, and activities continue at full speed. North Holland North is ready for the next step towards a resilient and sustainable hydrogen economy.
